A quality antivirus program will stop malware infections and remove existing threats or attacks against individual computer devices, networks, or entire IT systems. The programs scan websites, files, downloaded software and user information for known malware types. They also monitor program behaviour to identify potential threats.
The majority of antivirus protections provide multiple scanning methods such as scheduled, on-access and quick scans. On-access scans seek out malicious code in the directories for the operating system, common file areas, and other common places upon starting. Scheduled scans let you create a daily schedule, a weekly schedule or a monthly one to run a complete system scan at a specified time. This is a more sophisticated kind of virus detection than signature-based detection and can detect malware that other programs don’t detect. These advanced forms of antivirus detection may not work as well for small businesses, as they are often prone to false positives–identifying secure parts of files and programs as potentially harmful.
